Delivery Day & Reload

Today Virago Transport LLC had it's first official delivery in Mount Pleasant WI!

Met up with a driver who picked up at the same shipper we did back on Monday in Gainesville, TX. Drug chains around and resecured our equipment (I'm sure I'll feel that later on tonight) while Al, the job site supervisor, unloaded us with a forklift and smoked cigarette after cigarette during the whole appointment Was a good 'ol dude though and got quite the giggle watching me lug the chains and binders back into the headache rack.

Made it to our next pickup in West Allis, WI to find the overhead gantry crane that was supposed to load 16k lb worth of dredging tarps was broken, so we sat for a few hours while a group of engineers tried to figure out how best to get the rolls onto our trailer

Fun fact for those who don't know, when delays like that occur (which sometimes last for hours if not days) the driver often isn't being paid and often doesn't have access to bathroom facilities. Thankfully the gentlemen in the warehouse took pity on my tiny bladder and let us use their "unisex locker room", which was totally gross but my diuretic kicked in so I was happy with that scummy unisex locker room.

Watching the process of how they laid out these giant tarps, wrapped them around steel tubing, drug them through the warehouse with 4 wheelers and prepped them for loading was awesome! They were super cool to let me watch them while they worked. Was like watching an episode of "How It's Made" live.

I also got to watch Daryl Selby skillfully back our big ass truck into a tiny bay with little to no room for error! So proud of him!! Those spread axle flatbed skills are coming back!

We shutdown early and took a much needed shower, plan to enjoy our pot roast that's been cooking all day, and relax. We'll be up at 4:30am to make our delivery time at 11am in Duluth, MN and start looking to book another load to keep us moving!

Also, if you get a chance, thank a driver for the hard work that they put into getting us what we need in our daily lives! Unless you're out here living it or watching it, you have no concept of just how much they truly mean to us as a society!

Here's a few pics I snagged along the way!
