Ever have one of those days...

Y'all ever have those days where you just look around to see if you're on candid camera? Because everything this just too damn exaggeratedly bizarre? That was today for us at Virago Transport LLC ...
The day started out seemingly "normal", offloaded out in the middle of nowhere Prewitt NM...The scenery was absolutely gorgeous! And it just kinda went downhill from there.
We stopped for a bite to eat at one of those old box car diners that I absolutely love trying out anytime I come across them and combed the load boards looking for a weekend haul. Basically something to get us out of NM that delivers Monday.
Decided to take a load from a broker we get calls from often, just never utilize because their rates are usually kinda low, but today they paid decently for bagged sand headed out to UT. We have contact with brokers who run UT so not too big of a gamble to mosey on that way....
We arrived to the silica plant and I was thrilled to see a large majority of the employees were women running the equipment (woot woot gender equality in the work place!!), got loaded and then headed off property to secure and tarp the load. Now here is where I nearly peed my pants...
Beautiful day, nice breeze quickly turned into shifting straight winds that caused our 250+lb tarp to come flying off and smack Daryl straight in the face! It cloaked him like a kid wearing a sheet pretending to be a ghost, all I could see was his boots! Y'all I tried to keep composed and be supportive, but I just lost it and he had a complete mental and emotional meltdown at that point lol. We did get a few minutes to stop and talk with another driver looking for tips on securement since he's new to open deck, so it was a nice little break from the side splitting laughter.
From there it steam rolled into one disaster after another....
After finally getting the pain in the ass of tarps bungee'd down we headed out, stopping to hit the restrooms before starting on our way ...But not before we hit one of the biggest hidden pot holes that I swore was going to blow our air bags, snap my spine, and caused the toaster and it's crumb tray to come catapulting towards us.... Y'all my damn soul left my body in that moment...The baby started fluttering around, it was just damn ridiculous.... Thankfully the truck and trailer weren't damaged It brought back flashbacks of Daryl recently taking a hill to quickly in my car last week getting air and traveling warp speed..Lord hammercy.
We just thought it was smooth sailing from there...but nope. Not today Satan.
We drove through a nice little bout of weather, saw some amazing canyons which I documented by hanging out the window....Just beautiful traveling out of AZ and into UT....That is until a damn hotshot driver kicked up a rock and cracked the windshield!!! That's it, stick a fork in me, I'm done for the day....
Tomorrow better be a better day, because today was just a bit much! I'm just thankful Daryl wasn't injured by the tarp (just his pride and sanity), the truck and trailer weren't damaged in the pot hole from hell incident, and somehow we'll figure out how to get the windshield replaced.
If you see some sketchy stuff online or donation buckets set up around FTW, mind ya business....We got a windshield to replace, renewals for next year coming up, payroll taxes and a baby on the way....Man I could really use a glass of wine!
Hope y'all's day and night were better than ours lol
