Haulin' Assets!

Another fangirl moment on the road

After a day waiting to hear back on potential loads out of Las Vegas and getting me home to the kiddo resulted in Virago Transport LLC making the decision to make our way back towards TX… We spent the morning combing the load boards in hopes of finding something that won’t require us to pay them to get back to the midwest, going back to that whole cooling market post I posted a while back, Obsidian needs to be closer to the red zone (hot market) instead of the blue zone (cool market), especially with the rising fuel costs (again…). While Vegas was an amazing trip, we need to go where the money is! We did get a nice hot shower in this morning (as opposed to the ABSOLUTELY freezing cold one we had to take a couple of days ago) and an amazing breakfast at the Petro Iron Skillet. Our waitress’ upbeat attitude and superb service was just what we needed to get our day started and keep me in the right headspace as we navigate this whole new life.

I did have another fangirl moment while out on the road, and this one was just as exciting as our first CB call out!

This truck right here symbolizes the birth of Virago Transport. Haulin Assets Podcast is based on a man who documented his journey into starting his own trucking company from start to present day by getting his CDL and buying a truck in 2019 and was the basis of our foundation when we went into this crazy new adventure. We follow their series religiously and have found it to be a huge piece to our structural formation.

I was on my way out to take the trash to the dumpster when I looked across the parking lot and low and behold, there is one of their trucks! Not only is it one of their trucks but the driver is their only female driver in their growing fleet! As a woman owned company this is HUGE to see on so many levels! She was super great to let me oogle the truck and give our backstory along with snapping a picture of her rig! Whole day was made right here, y’all! As avid listeners, Daryl actually won one of their gift card drawings several months back when he submitted a listener question.

My hope is that Chris (the trucking company owner) and Craig (their hilarious and exciting host…who totally should be posted up on the side of the trailer LOL) see this and know how important their show is in the lives of us as a single truck owner operator! Without their awesome information, we would still just be an idea on paper and spreadsheets!

Fingers crossed that we find something worthwhile on the way to get us headed back east towards home, y’all! This market is rough (as we anticipated it would be) and I’m sure missing my little boy!!!
